Frequently Asked Questions about Vinyl Sundecks & Railings

Vinyl Sundecks

Q. How soon can the deck be used after the vinyl has been installed?

A. Your deck can be used immediately once the vinyl has been installed.

Q. How should I clean the vinyl?

A. The best way to clean the vinyl is to use a soft scrub brush with a mild soap, such as dishwashing or laundry soap.

Q. Why does Pacific Rim Sundecks recommend vinyl over fibreglass?

A. We feel vinyl is the better material because it bends and moves with your deck. Fibreglass has the possibility of cracking if the deck were to shift, expand or move.

Q. What kind of Plywood is recommended?

A. We recommend a minimum of 5/8” standard T+G fir plywood.

Q. How do you fix a tear in the vinyl?

A. We recommend that a patch be done. The vinyl should be cut out to the size of the patch and then glued or welded onto the vinyl in order to ensure a waterproof seal.

Q. What happens if I see bubbles after the deck has been installed?

A. This is normal. If bubbles occur, wait for 10 days and, if the bubbles are still there, call us and we will come out and apply some heat to the bubbles. The bubbles are just the gases being expelled from the glue.

Aluminum Railings

Q. Why should I consider installing an aluminum railing product rather than wood, steel or iron?

A. Aluminum railings are super-low maintenance. Unlike wood railings, which need to be protected from insects and decay, or railings made from other types of metals that are prone to rust and peeling paint, aluminum railings feature long-life, rust-free powder coatings that can withstand any negligible maintenance requirements.

Q. Are aluminum railings environmentally friendly?

A. Aluminum railings are 100% recyclable! Rest assured that when you select aluminum railings to make your home beautiful, you are also making a choice that is best for the planet.
